Fire Plan

by Lindy on December 29th, 2009

The recent extreme weather, the experience of the Victorian bushfires, and a letter from Council have all come together to make us decide - it's time to create a new, updated and accurate fire plan.

As part of the plan:
The Directors meeting on 20th December voted to install an earth-covered fire shelter as a last resort refuge, close to the creek below Juanita and Rod's places.
RFS has a Bush Fire Survival Plan that you can download from Please fill in this survey to help with this process. The easiest way is to click the link below and fill in online, but printed copies will also be available in the letter box.We need the information by Sunday 17th January, because there will be a Chugga practice day and map familiarisation on Sunday 31st January (the Sunday after school goes back). http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SDYMNWDLove Lindy" TARGET="_self">http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/file_system/attachments/Attachment_BushFireSurvivalPlan.pdf. It is recommended that all households get a copy. It asks some good questions to make you think.
We also decided to create a phone tree so that information about fire threats can be shared quickly.
John Brumpton has volunteered to create an up-to-date map of access and water sources, with a copy to be laminated and kept in Chugga. To do this, he needs information. Surveys have been emailed to people or can be found in the mailbox. If you haven't got one, email Lindy. Please fill in. We need the information by Sunday 17th January, because there will be a Chugga practice day and map familiarisation on Sunday 31st January (the Sunday after school goes back).

Hi folks
I believe you seriously need to do some cool winter fuel reduction burns. Put in the already proposed fire trails and take it from there.
Don't rely on the rural fire brigades getting you out of trouble.
Cheers
David
