Freeloading resident takes up home in nesting box..

by Lewie on January 23rd, 2010

I think this is an Australian Owlet-nightjar also called A Little Nightjar, Fairy Owl or Moth Owl.
It is using the bird box given to me (Lewie) by Michael as a Yule gift last year.
You can see it if you come half way up the hill in a Brush box tree on the left.
It will come out if there's a bit of noise in the afternoon to have a look at what's going on.
If someone has any other suggestions of what the bird is please let me know but that is what i think it is.

Ash and I went for a walk up there yesterday to meet and greet. It poked it's head out briefly, but obviously wasn't feeling very sociable. Still, it's very nice to see the habitat boxes doing their job.
